Side effects of a TV series

blog-tv-series

It all begins with your friends talking about a TV series which you have never heard of and you feeling out of place in their conversation.

They try to pull you in, you ignore…

They try harder, stressing on the fact that how much you are missing on. You brag you are not interested and finally, they bargain with you to watch the first few episodes and place a lucrative bet that you are going to like it. Before you realize, you are handed over with the “first season” of the series in a flash drive the very next day and you know, you are left with no option and have to watch it.

And, you enter the vicious world of the TV series….which once entered, can’t be left, and remember, we don’t even have a rehab for this addiction. NOT YET  at least!!

First few episodes can be tough and boring but by the time you reach the end of first season, there is no looking back.

One season ends, you move to another season. You search for the next season online like a drug addict, you make phone calls and when nothing else works, you buy subscription of the site where you can find the next season. If it is not online yet, you become depressed and can’t wait, so you switch to a different series. You compare characters from different series, you love some and you hate others-with all your heart and soul.

The first series you watched always remains special, just like your first Love.

Being part of the “Series gang” now, you start trying to influence more people to be part of your league.

Soon, comes the moment when,

Friday nights become impossible without Joey’s Pizza

Everything is either dirty or Monica clean...

Measure of anyone’s funny quotient is Chandler..

Bloomingdale’s makes you think of Rachel instead of shopping…

You go to New York and want to go to Friend’s cafefeeling sad to find that it doesn’t exist…

Your furniture points to the TV, which you call “Stevie-the TV” now…

When someone reserves their place on a furniture, it reminds you of “Sheldon and his SPOT.”

You see a “Car Wash” and instead of thinking about your dirty car, u think about money laundering in “Breaking Bad”…

Before you know, you have turned into a “Series addict”…

You speak any and every dialogue to your “serial buddy” and you both burst into laughter, while others stare at you like you are completely insane…

Your gift ideas revolve around series characters and comprise of T-shirts with quotes from series, goodies, miniatures and posters..

If that is not enough, you through F.R.I.E.N.D.S. themed baby shower and wedding shower…

Back to today. It is striking 4’o clock and I am sitting in office, unable to concentrate on my work. Still there are 3 hours left, before I would reach home and watch ‘Game of thrones’ latest episode, which I had to leave half way due to bad internet connection.

How much have I cursed my internet, tried every possible thing to make it work so that I could complete the episode and finally when nothing worked, I had started reading episode online on my phone. Sadly, I know what episode had in store for me and there is no suspense left but still I can’t resist the urge to watch it, discuss it with ‘GOT friends’ and post my valuable comments on FB and twitter….

Officially a “series addict” now, I start wondering how it all began…
